Restore a rested, naturally open expression — without the surprised look of older techniques.
A brow lift — also called a forehead lift — elevates and repositions the brow to a more youthful, natural position. As we age, soft tissue descent causes the brow to drop, creating a heavy or tired appearance that is often mistaken for a bad mood rather than age. A brow lift corrects this at the structural level, not by pulling the skin tight, but by addressing the underlying tissue directly.
Dr. Newman performs the endoscopic brow lift in most cases — a minimally invasive approach using small incisions and a camera, which preserves the hairline and results in minimal scarring and a shorter recovery. For patients with significant brow ptosis or forehead laxity, a modified hairline or open technique may be more appropriate.
You may be a good candidate for a brow lift if you experience:
Many patients benefit from combining a brow lift with upper blepharoplasty or a facelift to achieve a harmonious, comprehensive result. Dr. Newman will evaluate whether brow lift alone, eyelid surgery alone, or a combination approach will best achieve your goals.
The endoscopic brow lift is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Three to five small incisions (roughly 1 cm each) are made just behind the hairline. A small camera and specialized instruments are used to release the tissue and reposition the brow to the desired position, where it is secured with internal fixation. There are no visible scars along the hairline.
Most patients experience mild to moderate swelling and bruising for 7 to 10 days. Temporary numbness or tingling of the scalp is common and resolves over several weeks. Most patients return to non-strenuous activity within 10 to 14 days and feel comfortable in public within 2 weeks. Exercise and strenuous activity are restricted for 3 to 4 weeks.
